The Most Spectacular Train Trips in the World with Rocky Mountaineer

Travelling onboard the Rocky Mountaineer is an unforgettable experience, considered by many to be, a trip of a lifetime. The two-day rail journey recaptures the romance of rail travel as it follows the historic train route constructed over 100 years ago through Canada’s West and the Canadian Rockies, uniting the country. The entire train ride takes place during daylight hours to ensure you enjoy every minute of the breathtaking scenery of glacier-fed lakes, majestic mountains ranges and ferocious rivers.

Rocky Mountaineer Summer Rail Trips

The Rocky Mountaineer train travels in both eastbound and westbound directions between the beautiful coastal city of Vancouver, British Columbia, the resort town of Whistler, British Columbia, and Jasper or Banff and Calgary, Alberta.

Routes Choose from three different rail routes including Kicking Horse, Yellowhead and Fraser Discovery Route.

  • Kicking Horse Route - Vancouver to Banff or Calgary
  • Yellowhead Route - Vancouver to Jasper Fraser
  • Discovery Route - Whistler to Jasper

Named for the pass over which it crosses the Canadian Rockies, the Kicking Horse Route takes you between Vancouver, British Columbia, and either Banff or Calgary, Alberta. This route traces the historic transcontinental rail line that united Canada's East and West and includes, amongst other highlights, the legendary Spiral Tunnels. Journey between Vancouver, British Columbia, and the picturesque resort town of Jasper, Alberta, along the Yellowhead Route, named for a second pass through the Canadian Rockies. This route is known for scenic valleys, plentiful wildlife including bears, and majestic Mount Robson, highest peak in the Canadian Rockies.

Our Fraser Discovery Route, named for the mighty Fraser River whose length it follows, links the mountain resorts of Whistler, British Columbia, and Jasper, Alberta. Journey through the historic Cariboo Gold Rush region, the lush forests of northern B.C. and the awe-inspiring Rocky Mountain Trench past Mount Robson to Jasper.
